Kia ora koutou,

A very warm welcome to Waikanae School. We are a vibrant full primary school catering to over 500 children from Years 1 to 8. Nestled on our scenic Kāpiti coast, we are lucky to be near both the beach and the bush—a beautiful setting for our tamariki to grow.

In 2026, we are proudly celebrating our 130th anniversary. Our school is built on a rich history of community involvement, and it is a joy to see fourth-generation whānau still walking through our gates. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated support from our parents and caregivers as we work together to grow connected, thriving students who pursue excellence in everything they do.

Joining Our Journey

Quite simply, we couldn’t do what we do without you. We offer a huge thank you to the parents and whānau who contribute so much to our school. There are many ways to connect with us and participate in school events, and we encourage you to be as involved as you are able to be. We truly look forward to walking alongside you on your child’s learning journey.

On a personal note, I have been the Principal here since 2022, but my journey with the school began back in 2009 as a teacher, syndicate leader, and Deputy Principal. It is a genuine honour to lead a community with such a long-standing and close sense of whanaungatanga.
